Pimples form when pores in the skin become clogged with oil, dead skin cells and bacteria.
This process starts with the overproduction of sebum (skin oil) by the sebaceous glands. When these pores become clogged, it creates an environment where bacteria can thrive, leading to inflammation and the formation of pimples.
Some of the contributing factors that can cause overproduction of sebum include hormonal changes, certain medications and even diet.
